Even when using these deeper head unit options you’ll still need to remove a vertical piece of plastic once you take out the original head unit and this won’t make any difference to the interior structure.
You can restore that removed part should you want it back in without stopping functionality, but there are also other considerations for wiring depth. Sourcing an Original Stereo with CarPlay
The second approach is to track down a used Aygo stereo that already has the required 108/C1/Aygo hardware configuration. You can search for this on eBay or other marketplaces, looking specifically out for one unit equipped with three buttons which indicate full functionality.
You might consider contacting Toyota dealerships directly as they sometimes have stock available but not all dealers will be able to source these items without charging you around £2000. While secondhand units appear on eBay fairly often it’s rare so the best way is using specific model numbers combined with a global marketplace called allegro.pl which operates like eBay Poland.
You will need translation switched on in your browser when searching Allegro for results, as they are listed primarily to European buyers. The 2014 onwards Toyota Aygo stereo model numbers apply to the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108 variants with DAB included:
- Model number: 86140-YV020 for units that include DAB radio support.
- No DAB model: 86140-YV010 for the unit without built-in digital radio features.
If you search for these specific part numbers on Allegro you’ll get results and then purchase them, waiting during shipping to arrive. All in all for this method the stereo plus shipping cost me just under £300 total, making it a budget-friendly alternative. Fitting that unit is as simple as unplugging your existing one and plugging in the new replacement component directly into the factory wiring harness without complex cutting required usually.
