In this review, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Switchbot Indoor/Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer, another impressive addition to Switchbot’s lineup of affordable smart home products. This thermo-hygrometer is perfect for monitoring damp indoor spaces and outdoor environments.
The Design
The device features a small, white design with rounded edges and an embossed logo on the front, giving it a modern look. It comes with a strap in the box, allowing you to hang it up, but it can also stand freely on its own. While the design is attractive, realistically, this device will likely be tucked away somewhere to do its job.
Specifications
The thermo-hygrometer uses a built-in Swiss sensor for accurate temperature and humidity readings. It can measure temperatures between -40°C to 60°C with an accuracy of ±0.2°C in non-extreme scenarios, and humidity levels from 0% to 99% with a ±1.8% accuracy under the same conditions. The device updates this data every 4 seconds.
Powered by two AAA batteries, Switchbot claims that they can last for up to two years. Given the device has no screen and only sends data via low-powered Bluetooth 4.2, we see no reason why this wouldn’t be accurate.
Setup and Accessing Data
Setting up the thermo-hygrometer is incredibly simple. After removing the battery tab, all you need to do is hit the ‘+’ icon in the Switchbot app, and it will guide you through the rest of the process.
Accessing data from this device is equally straightforward via the Switchbot app. You can view current and historical data including temperature, humidity, absolute humidity, dew point, and vapour-pressure deficit. The app also offers options to export this data if desired. Additionally, you can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, enable cloud settings for out-of-home access, set up notifications based on specific criteria, and even create scenes to trigger other smart home devices.
Our Verdict
At £14.99, the Switchbot Indoor/Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer is a great product for monitoring humidity and temperature in bathrooms or outdoor spaces.
