Popur S7 Automatic Litter Tray: A 5-Month Long-Term Review

After over five months of daily use, here’s my honest long-term review of the Popur S7 automatic litter tray. This is one of the most unusual smart home products I’ve tested. On one hand, it works really well, keeps smells down, and my cats took to it instantly. On the other, it launched with missing features, an unfinished app, and still feels like it’s evolving.

Real-World Performance with Two Cats

The Popur S7 handled my two cats daily with ease. It has a large capacity, so I only need to empty it every few days. The auto-rotate feature works well, keeping the litter level consistent. My cats took to using it instantly.

Cleaning and Maintenance Experience

Maintaining the S7 is straightforward. Emptying the waste drawer takes about five minutes daily. Once a week, I clean the tray with water and mild soap. It’s not noisy during cleaning cycles but produces some noise when cats use it or when rotating.

App Features (And What’s Still Missing)

The Popur app is functional but still has room for improvement. You can monitor cleaning cycles, adjust settings like cleanliness level and rotation interval, and view usage statistics. However, features like smart alerts and remote control are missing.

Noise Levels and Safety

The S7 isn’t silent; it hums during cleaning cycles and rotates when waste is detected or at set intervals. However, my cats don’t seem bothered by the noise. Safety-wise, there’s a risk of fingers getting trapped in the rotating mechanism.

Build Quality and Design

The Popur S7 has a modern, sleek design that fits well with most decors. It’s sturdy but not heavy. The waste drawer slides out smoothly for easy cleaning. However, it collects some litter around the seal.

Is It Worth the Price?

The Popur S7 retails at $499, which is high compared to other automatic litter boxes. However, considering its performance and features, I think it’s worth the price if you can afford it.

If you’re considering upgrading to an automatic litter tray, especially an open-style one, this review should help you decide if the Popur S7 is right for you right now—or if it’s worth waiting. While it has some flaws and missing features, its performance makes it a solid choice.
