Smart Kitchen Lighting Control: My Experience with Meross Sensors
Bottom line: The Meross Presence Sensors and Smart Plugs are fantastic for creating automated kitchen lighting scenes, but they require a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
Setup Process
The setup was surprisingly easy. I used the Meross app to connect the devices, which took just a few minutes. I placed one Presence Sensor near the entrance and another above the counter where my coffee maker is located.
Automation Creation
To create automations, I went into the app’s “Scene” section. Here, you can set up various conditions for each scene. For example, in ‘Morning Coffee’ scene:
- Condition: Presence Sensor (counter) detects motion.
- Action: Turn on Smart Plug connected to coffee maker at 50% brightness.
You can also create time-based scenes, like turning off lights at midnight if no motion is detected after sunset.
Performance
The sensors worked well most of the time, detecting motion accurately. However, I noticed some delays when connecting to my Wi-Fi network, which is quite old. This caused a slight lag in the automations sometimes.
Pro tip: If you’re experiencing connectivity issues, consider upgrading your router or using a mesh networking system.
Final Thoughts
Despite some connectivity hiccups, I’m very pleased with these devices. They’ve made my kitchen lighting more convenient and energy-efficient. Plus, they’re quite affordable, especially with the Meross discount code.
