Morphy Richards S1 Pro: A Wet Disappointment
My Morphy Richards S1 Pro Portable Ductless air conditioner recently leaked its internal tank onto my floor – yet again. Here’s what happened, and why I think it’s a problem worth noting.
Initial Setup & Operation
The first few days went smoothly. The AC was easy to set up, with the remote control making adjustments straightforward. It seemed like a worthy upgrade from my previous model, with its sleek design and claimed 9000 BTU cooling capacity.
Then Came the Leak
One evening, I returned home to find water pooling on my floor around the AC unit. The internal tank had drained itself, something it’s done several times since despite Morphy Richards’ claim of a “drip-proof” design.
The cause? Evidently, the auto-stop function, intended to prevent overflow, isn’t reliable. When the tank reaches its capacity and the AC stops functioning, gravity takes over – unless you’re there to turn it off manually.
