Over the last couple of months, I’ve been using Aqara to control my heating with room-by-room temperature control, boiler automation, and automatic geofencing — all without a subscription.

In this video, I show how I’m using the Aqara W600 Radiator Thermostats alongside the Aqara T2 Relay Module to build a fully functional smart heating system. The setup allows individual radiators to call the boiler for heat, supports local control, works offline, and integrates with platforms like Apple Home, Home Assistant, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.
I walk through the hardware, installation, scheduling, automations, and real-world performance after months of use during winter in the UK. This includes geofencing without requiring extra apps, frost protection when away from home, and a custom boost mode similar to what you’d find in subscription-based systems.
