I’ve been testing the Aqara G400 for around a month ahead of release, so in this review I cover design, features, setup, Apple Home integration and real-world use to help you decide if it’s the right smart doorbell for your home.
The G400 is Aqara’s first vertical video doorbell, designed to capture packages on your doorstep with its 3:4 aspect ratio and 165° field of view. It also works with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings and Home Assistant, making it a very flexible smart home doorbell.
I also test how it performs with HomeKit Secure Video, including face recognition using iCloud Photos and HomePod doorbell chimes.
If you’re looking for a reliable HomeKit doorbell without subscriptions, the Aqara G400 might be one of the best options available.
