Meross Matter Smart Wifi Plug (MSS315) Review
After testing the Meross Matter Smart Wifi Plug (MSS315), I’m impressed by its compact design, compatibility with Apple, Google, and Alexa, and affordability. Here’s what you need to know before purchasing.
First Impressions & Design
The MSS315 is sleek and compact, blending well with other devices in your home. It has a single outlet with no visible lights, giving it a clean, minimalist look.
Setup & Compatibility
Setting up the Meross plug was straightforward via the Meross app (available on iOS and Android). It supports Matter protocol, making it compatible with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. I had no issues connecting it to my Wi-Fi network.
Apple HomeKit
As an Apple user, I appreciated the seamless integration with HomeKit. You can create scenes, automate routines, and control the plug using Siri or the Home app.
Google Home & Alexa
The Meross plug also worked well with Google Home and Alexa. Voice commands were recognized accurately, and I could group it with other smart home devices for easier management.
Performance & Features
- Energy Monitoring: The Meross app provides real-time energy usage data, helping you track your power consumption.
- Countdown Timer: You can set on/off timers for the plug, useful for lamps or other devices you want to turn off automatically after a certain time.
- Power Surge Protection: The MSS315 offers some protection against power surges and voltage fluctuations.
While testing, I found the plug’s response time to be quick, with minimal lag between commands given via app or voice assistants. However, it doesn’t support scheduling based on sunset/rise times like some other smart plugs.
Verdict
The Meross Matter Smart Wifi Plug (MSS315) offers excellent value for money, combining compact design, wide compatibility, and useful features. It’s a worthy addition to any smart home setup.
