If you own an Insta360 Go 3 or the newer Go 3S, the Insta360 Go 3S Quick Reader is one accessory I’d recommend. It’s tiny, well designed and — important for on-the-go shooters — it speeds up transfers and charging without adding bulk to the camera. I reviewed the Go 3S itself a few weeks ago (link to that review above) and this accessory deserves its own spotlight.
Price & Summary
The Quick Reader retails for around £46. It’s small, lightweight and, after using it regularly, I think it justifies the price. It adds convenient charging, fast file transfers, and microSD backup to the tiny Go 3 / Go 3S workflow.
Design
The Quick Reader is available only in white and keeps the Insta360 Go 3S aesthetic — minimal and compact. Key design points:
- Top mount for the Go 3 / Go 3S camera.
- Slide-out connectors on the bottom: a USB-C and a Lightning connector.
- MicroSD card slot on the USB-C side (use a high-performance card such as a SanDisk Extreme — recommended card).
- Side locking button to hold the connector steady while plugging into a phone or computer.
The design works because it adds almost no bulk to the camera while giving useful connectivity and storage options.
How I Use the Insta360 Go 3S Quick Reader
There are three main workflows where the Quick Reader shines:
- Direct phone connection: Plug the Quick Reader into your phone, open the Insta360 app (or follow the prompt), and browse footage directly from the camera without using Wi-Fi. This is a far quicker way to get clips onto your phone for editing or upload.
- Charging on the go: Use the Quick Reader with a power bank or USB-C socket to charge the Go 3 / Go 3S — handy when you don’t want to carry the Action Pod.
- Backing up to microSD: Attach the camera to the Quick Reader, plug into power, and tap the button on the Go to initiate transfer. The indicator blinks green during transfer and stays green when finished. Files then live on the microSD and can be read by phone, tablet, or computer.
If you start with the camera in the Action Pod and then move to the Quick Reader, you can initiate transfers and monitor progress on the pod’s screen — a small but useful convenience for faster workflows.
Performance & Reliability
Transfers are fast and reliable — the Quick Reader removes the friction of Wi-Fi transfers and is noticeably quicker when you need footage on your phone right away. The locking button prevents accidental disconnects while plugging into phones or computers, and the microSD backup gives extra peace of mind when shooting longer sessions.
Verdict
For anyone carrying an Insta360 Go 3 or Go 3S regularly, the Insta360 Go 3S Quick Reader is a highly recommended accessory. It keeps your setup compact, enables fast on-the-go transfers, and provides simple charging and backup options — all without the need for bulky extras. At around £46, it’s a smart buy for shooters who value portability and speed.
